This coat was made using an old wool blanket I bought from an op shop. I loved the idea of making a coat out of something old and with wool fabric being so expensive I knew that wool blankets would be the ideal material. Now every time I go into an op shop, I make a beeline for the blanket section. I have now collected five large blankets and counting…. It’s a problem. I was inspired by balmacaan coats which were very popular in the mid-century however with my own adaptions and my signature funky curved collar I have created a really great versatile coat lined with cotton flannelette to keep the wearer extra warm. . I have now become obsessed with this idea and hope to make some to sell in the future.
